The Incredible Hulk was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962 and was a transformation of Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, a former nuclear physicist, top scientist in his field and creator of the G-bomb or Gamma Bomb. Testing ended abruptly and unexpectedly when a boy appeared at Ground Zero. Banner tried to save the boy from his jealous assistant, Igor Drenkov who let the countdown continue, and was able to save both the boy and himself. Covered in gamma rays, the Grey Beast is sent to the hospital for testing.
